welcome to my final fantasy xiv diary!

this page is where i'll be posting updates about what im up to in ffxiv! if you're not familiar, final fantasy xiv is an mmorpg thats become wildly popular within the past few years! i'm not as obsessed with it as most people are, but i really do enjoy the game a lot and part of the fun in it for me is the crazy grinds i find myself doing believe it or not! because of that i decided to make this page to post about what grinds im getting into, what ive accomplished in the game lately, etc. as a fun way for myself to look back on what ive done in the game!

i've been playing the game for either 2 or 3 years now, so i've done quite a lot in the game prior to making this page obviously, but i figured with a new expansion right around the corner of me typing this and a new patch (6.5!) coming in just a few days with new stuff to do now's the best time to start making something like this!

i hope you'll enjoy checking up on this page and reading through it to see what i'm up to in eorzea! even if you're not into the game, i hope reading this is fun for you! thanks for stopping by!

6.5 is out!!

as of today patch 6.5 is out!! if you aren't aware there's new things added to the patch like more main scenario quests, a new dungeon, a new trial, new pvp season, a new alliance raid, and more along with whats to be added in the 6.5x patches!! this patch was probably the most excited i've felt for an xiv patch in a while, mostly because i've felt a big resurgence in my enjoyment of the game lately so i was super looking forward to this coming out! anyways, my friend june, who i mentioned in my previous post, put together a blind run of the new alliance raid the day of the new patch which i took part of and it was really really fun!!!!

for starters, my day kind of started off on the wrong foot. i almost called out of work, partly because of the xiv patch (lol), but also because i was just having a rough time mentally.. but i went to work anyways and it sure was a Day. so needless to say i (in the voice of a guy who really needed this) really needed this. by the way, if you're not familiar, an alliance raid in xiv is when theres 3 parties of 8 that work together to fight bosses. they're pretty fun! my favorite alliance raid series in the game is the ivalice one, but the myths of the realm alliance raid that was released with this expansion, endwalker, has been pretty fun!

june was able to get about 21 people together (the rest were gathered from party finder so they were just random people) which is like damn!! that's a lot!! prior to going into the alliance raid some of us met up in the crystarium and were just hanging out on a bunch of boxes. you have to jump on a railing and then jump onto the boxes to get there and my dumb ass accidentally jumped off the railing and fell to the area below twice lolol.. here's a nice picture i took of us hanging out!

while we were hanging out here waiting for people to get ready we had some guy approach us with his weapon out like "WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE DOING" and we all started chasing him around the crystarium LOL.. imagine being this guy and having like twenty people just start running afer you.. scary.. but it was really really funny. ANYWAYS!!!! once people were finally ready, it was time for the alliance raid! i won't go too in depth talking about it for spoiler reasons but it was really fun! most of us went in completely blind so it was really fun seeing everything for the first time and having to figure out the mechanics on the fly! i screamed so much in voice chat, but i think most of my friends have accepted at this point that playing xiv with me means that you just have to anticipate that i will be screaming a lot LOL.. im really glad i was able to take part in this, given the rough start to my day it was something that i was really looking forward to throughout the day and it was so worth it.. i love playing xiv with my friends!!!!!!

i got my seal rock coat!!

so around last year or so i started really getting into frontline i got into it initially because i wanted the mounts you get from winning a total of 100 matches in general and eventually i got so into it that now i still do pvp almost every time i log on because i just grew to really enjoy it despite how mind-numbing it can get most of the time LOL. since i like having things to work towards in xiv and i developed stockholm syndrome for frontline (lol), i decided to start working towards getting the seal rock coat..

what is the seal rock coat and how do you get it? well it's this coat which is just used for glamour purposes rather than having any real use in battle or anything like that. i think it looks really nice! but vivi, you might be saying, you didn't answer how you get it.. well.. you get it from having a total of 100 wins in the seal rock mode of frontline. if you're not familiar, frontline rotates everyday to different modes. there used to be 4 modes in total but as of one of the 6.x patches, it's been knocked down to 3 since one of the modes, borderland ruins, has been taken down so that the dev team can rework it (good riddance that mode SUCKS!!!!). so basically you would have to wait for the modes to rotate until it gets to seal rock, which is easier now since there's 3 modes rather than 4, but still waiting SUCKS!!!!!!

anyways i enjoy seal rock but getting 100 wins in any pvp mode takes a lot longer than you might think if you're not familiar with it since you're basically on a team with 24 other players and whether or not you win is at the mercy of if they want to listen to callouts (or if the callouts are even good lol), if they want to actually win, or if they have any idea of what they're doing, etc. so it's been a bit of a painful process! but it doesn't matter now.. since as of today that coat is MINE!!!! YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

since i'm so into frontline now i know i'll definitely still be doing pvp in my spare time, but it feels so nice to finally have this coat after all of the matches that made me feel insane :,) special thanks to my good friend june who has been helping me with frontline every now and then ever since i was grinding for the 100 wins mounts! she came along for the last few matches i needed and helped me get my coat today :D!! here's a picture of us together with me wearing the seal rock coat hehe .. (i need to make a better glam for this coat i kinda just threw it on and immediately logged out bc i was just so done by the time i got my 100th win LOL)
